World War I Riverside Plaque

According to records, many areas during the 1890’s of what was part of Hackensack at the time, separated into boroughs.  There were 26 boroughs established in Bergen County in 1894.

One borough was “Riverside” established on June 30, 1894, which would change its name to “River Edge” on December 1, 1930. This is why the Plaque is titled Riverside.

The Plaque is in Veterans Park, which is where the
Walter S. Brown Building is located on Continental Avenue in
River Edge.
